Marker text:
May 23, 1864. The Army of the Tennessee, consisting of Logan's 15th & Dodge's 16th A.C., crossed the Etowah River at Woolley's Bridge & by Old Macedonia Church & roads not now existing, reached this, the intersection with the Old Alabama Rd., 7.5 mi. W. of Stilesboro.

Keeping W. of Euharlee Creek, the troops continued S.W. to a creek crossing at (the present) Aragon, in Polk County.

These troops (right wing of Sherman's Army), were moving to Dallas, in Paulding County, to out-flank Johnston's army at Allatoona.
