Photo Gallery: Brasstown Bald
Marker text:
The high rounded peak to the south with lookout tower is
Brasstown Bald or Mount Enotah, the highest mountain in Georgia, 4,748 feet
above sea level. Its Indian name, Itseyi, means "place of fresh green" and
refers to its grassy instead of timbered summit as does the name "Bald." The
first white settlers mistook this name for a similar one meaning "brass." A
Forest Service road leads to a picnic area near the summit.
