Photo GalleryRock City is actually located about six miles south of Chattanooga, in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. As a tourist attraction (and some might say tourist trap), Rock City got its start in the late 1920s and early 1930s. You may know the name more from the famous "See Rock City" messages painted on large buildings (usually barns) all over the country. It's worth a visit, just for a nice light hike, some fresh air, and to say you've seen Rock City. The path is a singular winding way through the formations, landscaping, and added features, and at about 3/4 mile of climbing will take most people about 1-2 hours to complete. Ticket prices at the time of this writing are about $15 for adults, $8 for kids 3-12. There are combination tickets available to add in Ruby Falls and the Incline Railway. Rock City has a website at www.seerockcity.com. |
