Photo Gallery: Haight-Ashbury District
When I first visited the Haight-Ashbury district in the late
1990s, it still retained most of the culture that made it famous. I've
noticed that the last decade has brought a bit of gentrification, most
visible in the trendy clothing shops that have replaced the
alternative-lifestyle stores that were there in the past. I return every
time I visit San Francisco so I can stop at Amoeba Music, housed in a former
bowling alley.
