Photo Gallery: Double Cabins

The Double Cabins Plantation is located on old Georgia Highway 16 (3335 Jackson Road, Griffin, Georgia 30223). The building sits on a curve in the road, and due to tree growth is easier seen coming from the east. The plantation is listed as a bed and breakfast, but on my visit (1/27/06) it appeared to be unused. This may be due to the season.

The plantation supposedly has two slave quarters, a museum, and an antebellum garden with rare birds, peacocks, horses and other animals. The rooms converted to bedrooms for the B&B are listed as follows:

Hollberg Room (Master Bedroom): The Hollberg Room features oil paintings of the Hollberg Family and a room full of period antiques: A magnificent carved Victorian bed with Burrell walnut medallion, two marble top Victorian end tables, an Empire Mahogany linen press atop a chest of drawers, mahogany wardrobe with marquetry and dental. a gold Victorian men's armrest sofa, a round mahogany card table, Victorian chest of drawers, Victorian upholstered armchair and a modern upholstered vibrator recliner for relaxing. It has an adjoining private bath and shower with a full size vanity.

The Sinclair Room: Features paintings of the Sinclair's who immigrated from Scotland and settled in the home. Features an antique bed and original plantation furniture including a very old piano and plantation secretary. A full size gentleman's sofa and two chairs. This room includes many antique treasures as well as old books back to the early 1800's.

Lenora's Room: This room has been recently renovated, including refinished original pine floors with Oriental rug. An American black cherry Sleigh Bed. A 1920's dressing table. A wash stand original to the house, fireplace with mantle and a brick hearth. Antique Music Box, Rocking Chair, Satellite TV, DVD/VCR Player and CD Player.

Caroline's Room: - Bedroom with Efficiency Kitchen. Antique Mahogany Four Poster Bed with matching upholstered antique rocking chair. New plush carpet. Garden View. Master bathroom with shower, tub and double sinks with vanity. Full working kitchen with stove, oven refrigerator and kitchen sink. Great for a couple or family.
